THE TERRITORY

We are in Irpinia, a middle ground between the Tyrrhenian and the Adriatic seas, a mountainous internal area of the region Campania. A territory characterized by green hills, woods and small lakes; also characterized by harsh winters, with high levels of precipitation, and mild summers, with temperatures that are usually not excessively high.

The combination of favorable environmental and climatic factors means that Irpinia is the perfect land for the cultivation of grapes for fine wines: it is, in fact, the province of Campania with the largest presence of vineyards and with the awarding of 3 docg (the Taurasi DOCG, the Fiano di Avellino DOCG and the Greco di Tufo DOCG).

The altitude of the area, between 300 and 1800 m above sea level, and the important temperature variations between the heat of the day and the coolness of the night, contribute to good drainage of the lsoil, making it (more than) suitable for viticulture.

CRYPTA CASTAGNARA CANTINE

Our vinery stands on a land where once there was a forest of centuries-old chestnut trees, traces still remain on our farm – about 600 m above sea level with an amazing view.

We are located in the ancient terrutory of Crypta Castagnara, municipality of Grottolella, in the province of Avellino. This is an area located in a privileged territorial position, where the cultivation of vines has always been very flourishing.

We are, more precisely, 9 km away from the provincial capital of Irpinia, 18 km from Benevento and a 45-minute drive from Naples International Airport. The Amalfi Coast can be reached in just 35 minutes drive and the Sorrento Peninsula is just over an hour drive.
